With some large corporations being more willing to speak out on social issues, and drawing some backlash because of it, a new poll found that a majority of 55 percent of voters think corporations should only engage with issues that directly impact their business. The Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 28 percent believe large corporations should actively engage with important political and cultural issues, while 17 percent weren’t sure. When corporations do comment on important or cultural issues, 27 percent said they should represent the views of their customers, followed 18 percent who said they should represent the views of employees and another 18 percent who said they should represent the view of shareholders, with 13 percent saying it should be magagement’s views.
