Rocker Mark Lanegan of the Screaming Trees has died at 57 years old.

The cofounder of the band’s death was confirmed in a press release and on Lanegan’s social media. 

The message said, “Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland. A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician, he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley. No other information is available at this time. The family asks everyone to respect their privacy at this time.”

The cause of death hasn’t been revealed.


The Screaming Trees formed back in 1985 with Lanegan joining guitarist Gary Lee Conner, bassist Van Conner and drummer Mark Pickerel. 

The band got their start in Ellensburg, Washington, which is a small town 100 miles away from Seattle.
