Foo Fighters‘ Sunday night (June 20th) Madison Square Garden show was a bittersweet return to arenas, with the recent death of the band’s beloved stage manager, Andy Pollard. Pollard was saluted by the band on both their social media platforms, along with his name and photo displayed in the days ahead of the gig on the MSG marquee.
The band announced the news of Pollard’s death to fans, posting:
Foo Fighters dedicated their June 20th Madison Square garden show to the memory of the band’s longtime stage manager. Andy Pollard.
Pollard passed away the morning of June 18. He served as Foo Fighters stage manager for 12 years.
We are shocked and devastated by this loss. We can’t imagine being onstage without Andy there by our side. He was not only a key member of our team but a dear friend and wonderful father. Our hearts go out to his partner Sophie Peacock, their children Arlo and Ren, and his family and loved ones.
Among the highlights at last night’s show, was comedian Dave Chappelle guesting with the band on a cover of the Radiohead classic, “Creep.” The concert marked New York City’s first full capacity arena concert since the Covid lockdowns began in March 2020. Proof of vaccination was required for entry.
