Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl says that the remaining members of Nirvana still get together to play and record.

In an interview, he told Howard Stern about impromptu jam sessions with his former bandmates, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. Grohl says they get together occasionally for dinner and usually end up in a studio, hanging out and playing music.

They’ve never done anything with it and according to Grohl, it’s more just like friends, jamming around. To him, “it doesn’t really seem like a big official reunion or anything.”

The three Nirvana members have only performed together publicly, a handful of times since Kurt Cobain died in 1994. That included their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and a collaboration with Paul McCartney.

Foo Fighters will be inducted into the Rock Hall later this year, making Grohl a two-time inductee.
