What’s on the horizon for Meta, formerly known as Facebook? Robots that can “gather information about how objects feel in the real world.” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is helping machines “learn how humans touch and feel” with the help of a robot finger sensor called DIGIT and a robot skin called ReSkin. Zuckerberg hopes to use this technology in the metaverse by creating “a feeling of presence in the virtual world.” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post today, “This brings us one step closer to realistic virtual objects and physical interactions in the metaverse.”
