MCVEYTOWN – The Kish Indians powered their way to victory over the McVeytown Eagles by the final score of 28-13 in the opening game of the CKYFCL Peewee division football game on Sunday.
It didn’t take long for the points to start showing up as literally the very first play of the game, McVeytown pulled off a double reverse which ended up into the hands of Stetson Bordell who hustled down the field with a 60 touchdown run.
But not long after that, the Indians responded with a big run of their own as Bennett Harmon flew down the field and completed a 46 yard touchdown run. Colt Spickler completed the extra point to make it a 7-6 lead.
With such under three minutes in the opening period, Kish scored again thanks to Harmon who went 37 yards for the touchdown. Jack Wagner scored the extra point to extend the lead to 14-6.
Harmon was not done yet as during the second quarter, he went 26 yards for his third rushing touchdown of the game. Harmon then completed a pass for a two point conversion.
Kish didn’t score again until the fourth and final quarter with Harmon again making his presence felt, scoring his fourth rushing touchdown of the game going 34 yards.
But the Eagles continued to battle, and with nearly 30 seconds left in the game, Knox Hartman punched in a five yard touchdown run. Triton Moist completed the extra point.
For McVeytown, Moist also had a couple of tackles along with Bryce Seedes and Zane Steinmeier. Layton Yoder also had a fumble recovery. Hartman also had a tackle.
Emmitt Hostetler had a sack for Kish as did Grady Trutt.
McVeytown will compete at Burnham against the Bulldogs on September 7 at 1 p.m.
Kish will host the Juniata Little Indians on September 7 as well with the game time of 1 p.m.
Best of luck to both teams!
Until Next Time!
