Yoder: Juniata County athletes make a splash in TVL!

MIFFLINTOWN – Local athletes in both Juniata as well as East Juniata were given the honor of being named to the Tri-Valley League all-stars.

JUNIATA

The Indians of Juniata had four selections in wrestling as well as both girls and boys basketball.

In girls basketball, Juniata was led by Regan Lowrey who was named to the first team. The senior finished her career at Juniata with scoring over a 1000 points for her career. During league play she averaged 15 points a game, had 40 assists and collected 37 steals.

Junior Mylee Landis was also given a first team nod. Landis was second in the Tri-Valley League among the scoring leaders averaging 16 points a game. Landis also led the league in steals with 65 and collected 104 rebounds.

The Indians also had a first team selection in boys basketball as well with junior Jasper Shepps who was voted in unanimously. Shepps placed third in the scoring department averaging 18 points, had 39 assists, 132 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.

And finally, Juniata also scored an all-star nod in wrestling with Ryder Smith. In his five matches in the Tri-Valley League, Smith compiled a record of (4-1) with two pins and a tech fall scoring 23 points.

EAST JUNIATA

The East Juniata Tigers had a pair of selections to the TVL all-stars in both boys and girls basketball.

Junior Wrett Smith was named to the second team. Smith placed first among the scoring leaders averaging 24 points a game.  Smith also had 37 steals, 32 three pointers made and led the league in free throws with a shooting percentage of 85%,

Junior Landyn Cramer was given an honorable mention in girls basketball. Cramer averaged 11 points a game, collected 111 rebounds and had 21 blocked shots.
