GREEN BAY, WI – Well, the 2025 NFL draft has officially come to an end where many teams will now look to see how well their draft picks will turn out heading into the new season. But for five Penn State Nittany Lions, it is the start of something new.
There were five players from Penn State that were drafted during the three day event.
The first Nittany Lion to be taken off the board was Abdul Carter who was the third overall pick to the New York Football Giants. Carter finished his career at Penn State winning the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as well as being an unanimous all-american. Carter was also first team in 2023 and 2024 and was named second team in 2022.
The second Penn State player drafted was tight end Tyler Warren. After wowing the fans at Beaver Stadium, he will now bring that same excitement to the Indianapolis Colts with the 14th pick. Warren is a winner of the John Mackey Award in 2024 while also being named to first team All-American and first team All-Big Ten. Warren was also named to the third team All-Big Ten in 2023.
We didn’t get to see another Nittany Lion until the third round where Safety Kevin Winston Jr was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 82nd pick. Winston sadly only played one game in the 2024 season. After being named Big Ten Defensive Player of the week in week one against Bowling Green, Winston unfortunately had an ACL injury and missed the remainder of the year.
A little while later, during the sixth round, the last two Penn State players were drafted. The first was Jaylen Reed who was picked up by the Houston Texans with the 187th pick. Reed was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten in 2024.
Last but not least, linebacker Kobe King who was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 201st pick. King finished his career at Penn State being named to the Second Team All-Big Ten in 2024.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for these guys. We will all just have to wait and see.
Best of luck to every single one of them!
Until Next Time!
