Diesel Koser, Trey Shoemaker recognized

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Two Shippensburg University wrestlers have been recognized as 2024-25 Division II Academic All-District ® At-Large honorees, an award that recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the mat and in the classroom.

Representing the Raiders are junior Trey Shoemaker (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) and sophomore Diesel Koser (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area).

Shoemaker maintains a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) as a criminal justice major. The 174-pound wrestler led the Raiders with 18 wins this past winter, and registered bonus points in 14 of his wins (eight pins, three tech falls, three majors).

Koser has logged a 3.63 GPA as a biology (pre-med) major. He placed fifth at regionals in the 197-pound weight class during the 2024-25 season. He finished with 17 total victories, including a team-best nine pins.

It is the second Academic All-District ® honor for Shoemaker, while Koser is a first time honoree. Both Raiders are now among those eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America ® Men’s At-Large Team that will be announced July 9.

To be eligible for Academic All-District ® consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students.

Academically, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a graduate student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don’t have an established graduate GPA.

The Academic All-District ® Team is selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Whereas most of the Academic All-District and All-America ® teams focus on specific sports, the Men’s At-Large category features a collection of several sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
