Even though the East Juniata Tigers collected nine hits to the Buffaloes’s seven, they still fell 13-3 on Wednesday. Nathan Carolus, Ian Drukenmiller, and Meyer Ramsey each collected two hits for East Juniata.

Newport got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Zach Bates singled to center field, Aden Banks walked, and Bates scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

The Buffaloes scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the second inning. Landon Zaring drew a walk, scoring one run, Bates doubled, scoring two runs, and Banks doubled, scoring two runs.

Newport added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Jameson Cummings tripled to right field, and Chris Imler walked, each scoring one run.

Zaring earned the win for the Buffaloes. The pitcher surrendered nine hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking four. Owen Messimer took the loss for East Juniata. The hurler went three innings, giving up 13 runs (nine earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking seven.

East Juniata  tallied nine hits in the game. Messimer, Drukenmiller, and Ramsey each drove in one run for the Tigers.

Banks and Bates were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Newport. Bates provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Buffaloes with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Imler paced Newport with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Bates stole two bases. Newport stole five bases in the game.

Next up for East Juniata is a game at Greenwood on Friday.
