Victoria Moore drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Lady Indians past Greenwood 13-3 on Monday. Moore tripled in the fourth scoring two, singled in the sixth scoring two, and singled in the third scoring one.
A single by Jaydon Brosius put the Wildcats on the board in the bottom of the first.
Juniata took the lead in the top of the third inning after Moore singled down the left field line, Sophia Smith doubled to center field, and Ava Lauver singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Brosius doubled to center field, which helped Greenwood tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
A triple by Moore gave Juniata Varsity Indians the lead, 5-3, in the top of the fourth.
The Indians scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored one run, an error scored one run, Regan Lowrey tripled, scoring two runs, and Savannah Marshall doubled, scoring two runs.
Addison Rutherford earned the win for the Indians. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and three runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking none. Kenz Devore took the loss for Greenwood. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up 13 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits, striking out six and walking five.
Juniata tallied 14 hits in the game. Moore and Lauver each collected four hits for the Indians. Marshall and Lowery each collected multiple hits for Juniata. Lowrey led Juniata with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Moore stole two bases. The Indians ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. Juniata turned one double play in the game.
Brosius went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Brosius, Kam Walton, and Lill Kessler each collected two hits for Greenwood.
Next up for Juniata is a game against East Juniata on Tuesday.
