Two Pitchers Team Up as Mount Union Trojans Shuts Out West Branch Warriors

Mount Union Trojans defeated West Branch 9-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cody McClain got Tyler Wilson to hit into a fielder’s choice to finish off the game.

Mount Union  fired up the offense in the second inning. An error scored one run for Mount Union .

The Trojans put up four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Mount Union was led by Je’saun Robinson and Ryan Scott, who all drove in runs.

One bright spot for the Warriors was a single by Brody Rothrock in the second inning.

Bryce Danish was credited with the victory for the Trojans. The righty allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven. McClain threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Luke Liptak took the loss for the Warriors. The pitcher surrendered six runs on three hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Robinson led Mount Union with two hits in three at bats.  The Trojans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Braylan Knable had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.

Coby Kephart went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead West Branch in hits.
