Port Royal, PA — In back-to-back years, Sandy Kline has showed up at the Port Royal Speedway’s driver’s meeting with a big announcement for the track regulars. She arrived to announce that Saturday July 12th would be her late husband’s, Jim Kline’s, tribute race at Port Royal which would see the winner’s share increase from $5,000 to $10,022. Troy Wagaman Jr. was able to find himself in victory lane at the end of the night, claiming that extra cash.

The 25-lap A-main event saw Mark Smith and Jake Karklin make up the front row with Smith jumping out to the early lead.

Battles would take place around the top 5 positions between Troy Wagaman Jr., Brock Zearfoss, Lucas Wolfe, and Garrett Bard would all duke it out for the fourth spot within the first 5 laps of the race.

Justin Whittall would take the 3rd spot away from Garrett Bard with 19 laps remaining in the A-main event and would quickly set his sights on the leaders of Mark Smith and Jake Karklin.

Whittall would catch Karklin for the 2nd spot and put a sliding move on Karklin with 17 laps remaining in turn four.

Just one lap later, Whittall would put another sliding move on the leader of Mark Smith in turn 2 to take the lead away and the driver from South Hampton, New Jersey would start to set sail around the half mile.

Whittall would build his lead to as large as 8-seconds over the rest of the field, while Troy Wagaman Jr. and Brock Zearfoss had worked their way into the final two podium positions.

As Whittall took the white flag however, his right rear tire would explode entering into turn number one, sending the car up into the outside wall. Whittall would battle with the car trying to keep in straight until he finally lost control on the middle of the back straightaway and drawing the final caution of the night.

With Whittall’s night turning from fairytale to nightmare, Wagaman Jr. would inherit the lead with just one lap remaining.

On the restart, Zearfoss would keep pace with Wagaman around the racetrack but couldn’t find enough speed through the corners to mount a pass. Wagaman Jr. would cross the finish line in first marking his first win at the racetrack as well as it being worth $10,022.

Zearfoss would finish in 2nd and Mark Smith would round out the top 3.

Zimmerman Truck Repair limited late models would take to the surface next which saw Lane Snook go back to victory lane after taking the lead away from Jaxton Garmin with just 2 laps remaining.

Eric Irvin and Maddox Smith started on the front row of the 20 lap A-main event with Irvin taking the early advantage on the opening lap.

Garmin, who started outside of the second row, would quickly find himself in the runner up spot after getting by Smith on the outside of turn number two.

Irvin would led over the first 3 laps, but Garmin would quickly get to his inside and take the lead away coming off of turn four with four laps completed.

Lane Snook would start to get into the mix battling for position with the other top two cars when the caution lights would come on around the race track for a three-car-pileup between Jared Fulkroad, Spike Moore, and Skyler Taschek.

When the feature event restarted, Garmin would jump out to a 3-second lead over the field, while it would take three laps for Snook to get by Irvin for the second spot.

Over the next 11 laps, Snook would start to reel in Garmin for the lead and would look to make his move with just 3 laps remaining.

Snook would ride to the inside of Garmin around the speedway and officially take the lead with the two-laps-to-go signal coming from the flag stand.

Once in front, Snook would not be denied and would cross the line in first with Garmin in second and Ryan Zook would finish in 3rd.

For the Penns Valley Meat Market PA Sprint Series 305 sprint cars, Josh Spicer would start outside the front row, take the lead on the opening lap, and lead all 20 circuits for his first PA Sprint Series win and first win at Port Royal Speedway.

Spicer has been able to pick up wins at Bedford, including 2 wins earlier in 2025, but had never been to victory lane at Port Royal before July 12th.

He would battle early on with Ken Duke Jr. and Drew Young before mechanical issues for Duke. Jr spelled the end of his night.

Young would hold on to finish in the second position and Nick Sweigart would finish in third.

Port Royal Speedway will be back in competition on Saturday July 19th with Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprint cars, Penns Valley Meat Market PA Sprint Series 305 sprint cars, and the return of the winged 358 sprint cars.

The 19th will also serves as the race track’s “First Responders Night” where first responders with proper ID will only have to pay a $10 general admission fee.
