Tradition! State College Cross Country team dominates D6 XC championship

REEDSVILLE – Tradition.

The State College Cross Country team has quite the legendary program.

Year in and year out, the Little Lions don’t rebuild. They simply reload.

Saturday, State College showed once again that they are the team to beat as the took both the boys and girls AAA titles.

With the win, the team will compete as a group at this week’s PIAA Cross Country Championships at Hershey.

On the girls’ side, the Little Lions finished with seven of the first 10 spots.

Notching the win was Marlee Kwasnica with a time of 18:30.90. She was followed closely by Amy Devan with an 18:40.40.

State also notched the third spot when Chloe Poindexter topped out with a time of 19:05.10.

Rounding out the top five was Natalie Koncoski with a time of 19:23.50.

Grace Morningstar notched a seventh place finish for her team posting a 19:44.40.

Devon Jackson and Sophie Baylis finished in eighth and ninth with a time of 19:53.70 and 19:55.70, respectively.

The boys were also successful as the Little Lions finished with five runners in the top 10.

Winning the District 6 title for State was Nick Sloff posting a 16:10.00.

Samuel Endres finished second with a time of 16:21.10.

Sam Viglione finished fifth with a time of 16:40.70.

Isaac Oppermann was close behind finishing with a sixth place time of 16:46.00.

Rounding out the top 10 finishes for the Little Lions was a ninth place finish by Henry Adams with a time of 16:55.90.

Both teams will be back in action Saturday at the PIAA championships.
