REEDSVILLE – The Mifflin County Cross Country girls team got off to a great start to their 2022 season today at the Big Valley Invitational.

Mifflin County girls varsity placed 7th out of 17 teams overall.

There were 132 girls in the race.

Adeline Leason finished first for the Huskies and was a medal winner for AAA with a 12th place finish.

All seven Husky runners finished under 28:05.

Amilia Coffey started her freshman season with a great 23:43 finish. “She is growing stronger and will be helping strengthen our top 3 of the team with Adeline Leason and Addie Parson,” said Neil Breneman. “Our 4th-7th runners are looking really good and will help bring great scoring support to our team.”

“Today several of our JV runners had a better time than Varsity runners which shows they will be trading back and forth through the season. This adds incredible depth to the team that is so valuable.”

Last year Mifflin County had seven high school runners total.

“We were only able to put forth a Varsity team,” said Breneman. “Today we not only filled the Varsity race with 7 runners, but had 8 run in the JV race.”

JV Girls

Ava Wagner came back with a solid PR today running 25:11 and taking home a 12th place medal. Rachel Saldubehere picked up great confidence and started the race hard. She finished in 27:06 and took home a 19th place medal. “These girls are also getting stronger and are such an important part of the team as they continue to develop in their training,” said Breneman

JH Girls

“We have a small JH girls team but our 3 veterans from last year, Abigail, Kahlen, and Irelynn are getting so much stronger! They had great performances today,” said Breneman. “It has also been remarkable to see our two 7th grade girls, Bailey and Kasey who have shown amazing development over the past month of training.”
