Juniata’s Senior Logan Strawser took first place on the hilly Susquenita course on Wednesday, September 14.  His time was 18:45.  Taking 2nd overall was Wyatt Stroup with a time of 18:59.  Coming in right behind was Juniata’s Joey Bomberger in 19:03.  The Indians took 6 of the top seven spots.  Levi Zeiders was 5th in 19:58.  Ricky Guante rounded out the scoring with a 6th place finish in 20:48.  Wesley Ehrisman placed 7th with a time of 20:51 and Charlie Telfer came in 17th with a time of 25:56.  The Juniata Indians defeated Susquenita 17 – 42 in the boys team competition.  Juniata coach Jeff Miller said “It was a beautiful day to run.  We got in some good hill work on the brutal Susquenita course.  For many of them, it was their first time running the course.”
In the girls race, Juniata sophomore Jessie Bomberger ran a tough race to take top honors with the win in a time of 24:46.  Other finishers for the girls were Aspen Eby 5th with a time of 33:06 and Nia Matthews 6th with a time of 33:36.  Brooklyn Herrold had to drop out do to injury.  Neither Juniata, Susquenita, Upper Dauphin, or Halifax had enough runners to score as a team.  Coach Miller said “This course suits Jessie very well with her tough running style and strong determination.  I was very happy for her.  Aspen and Nia ran well considering this was their first encounter with this brutal course.”
