State College softball evens record to 500

STATE COLLEGE – Back to 500!

A day after having their contest rained out by Mother Nature, the State College Softball team was back on the field Friday looking to even its record to 7-7.

The Lady Little Lions did it in dramatic fashion topping Cedar Cliff 6-5.

Offensively, State College pounded out 10 hits on the day.

Leading the way for the Little Lions at the plate were Gabi Todd, Addison Harpster , Ava Babcock and Gabby McTavish. All posted two hits on the night. Leading in the RBI column were Harpster and McTavish, both tallying two RBIs.

Picking up the win for State College was Harpster. Harpster went the distance striking out 10, allowing nine hits in contest.

State College got off to an early start, posting two runs in the first.

G Todd opened the Little Lions part of the first with a walk.

Harpster helped her own cause early as she roped a one-out double, moving Todd up to third.

Todd would get thrown out at home on a fielders choice by Tori Kroboth.

However, both Harpster and T Kroboth would score minutes later on an RBI single by Babcock single.

Cedar Cliff battled back in the top of the third taking the lead at 3-2.

State College tied things up at three in the bottom of the inning.

Kroboth opened up the inning with a double. She later scored on a  Edgar Cliff miscue, knotting things up at three.

But Cedar Cliff took back the lead with a run in the fourth.

Todd started another State College rally in the fourth as she doubled.

Sydney Wells singles into center. Todd advances to third while Wells moves up to second on the throw.

Both scored on an RBI single by Harpster, putting the Little Lions back on top at 5-4.

Harpster was replaced on the base paths by a pinch runner. State College later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kroboth.

The Colts would get to within a run but the Little Lions were up for the challenge as they went onto the top Cedar Cliff 6-5.
