STATE COLLEGE – Reaching .500!

Saturday, the State College baseball team just stood one win away from reaching the 7-7 mark on the year.

But to do so they would have to produce a win against a very tough Williamsport team.

In a very defensive contest, the Little Lions would get a run in the first and held on through the final six innings to give fans the 1-0 victory.

Carter Weaverling notched the game’s only RBI. Weaverling had two of his team’s six hits in the ball game.

It would be the Cooper connection on the mound for State College. Picking up the win for the Little Lions was Cooper Ryan while teammate Cooper Albert was clutch under pressure posting the save.

The two combined to keep the Millionaires broke at the plate with only four hits. Ryan had seven strikeouts while Albert had four.

Williamsport’s hurler Deacon Brown pitched a strong game but got the loss.

In the first, the Lions would get started when Tony Herzing walked.

With one out, Jack Messina also walked.

The bases quickly loaded when Adam Cooper reached on an error.

With one swing of the bat by Weaverling, the Little Lions took the lead, which would be the game winner.

Defensively, State College had it A-game going as they held tight throughout en route to the 1-0 hard fought victory.
