State College  had trouble keeping up with Chambersburg Varsity Lady Trojans in a 9-2 loss on Wednesday.

The Little Lions opened the scoring in the first after Jessica Hawbaker homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Karley Skultety hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the first for the Chambersburg.

The Lady Trojans jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Kendall Flory singled to right field, State College committed an error, and Breanne Paetow doubled to center field, each scoring one run.

The Lady Trojans added one run in the third. Rowan Ogden singled down the right field line on the seventh pitch of the at-bat, making the score 5-2.

Kori Leedy earned the win for the Lady Trojans. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Addison Harpster took the loss for the State College Little Lions. The righty went four innings, giving up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out four and walking four.

Hawbaker provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led with Little Lions with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Number eight hitter, Paige Moriarta, showed the depth of the  Little Lions’s lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Ruby True and Harpster each collected multiple hits for State College.

Chambersburg piled up 10 hits in the game. Flory and Paetow each collected two hits for the Lady Trojans. Flory and Skultety each drove in two runs for the Lady Trojans. Marley Onomastico led Chambersburg with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Paetow stole two bases.

Next up for State College  is a game at Mifflin County on Monday.
