State College Little Lions Triumphs Over Central Dragons In Late-Game Victory

The State College Little Lions baseball team bested Central 7-5 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the seventh when Cooper Ingold singled, scoring two runs.

Central got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kyle Klotz walked, and Mason Sparks grounded out, each scoring one run.

State College took the lead in the top of the third inning after Sebastian Rhoades walked, Rowan Walker singled, and Kellen Williams hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

The Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a walk by Adam Loucks, and a single by Lukas Black.

Cody Norman opened the game for the Little Lions. The left-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and two runs over one inning, striking out two and walking four. Adam Schirf, Finn Powers, Oskar Williams, Walker, Rhoades, and Landon Bietz each threw shutout innings for State College in relief.

Ingold went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Powers, Derek Moriarta, Walker, Ingold, and Skyler Crane each collected one hit for the Little Lions. State College had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Rhoades and Machtinger led the team with two bases on balls each. Jake Hall stole two bases.

Sparks, Wyatt Dilling, Loucks, and Black each collected one hit for the Dragons Varsity. Klotz, Sparks, Loucks, Troy McNichol, and Black each drove in one run for the Dragons. Central  had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Jay Hoenstine and Dilling led the team with two bases on balls each.
