STATE COLLEGE – Running like a well oiled machine!

The State College boys lacrosse team played Bishop McDevitt Tuesday and treated the home crowd to a victory and some school history all wrapped in one.

Two State College teammates eclipsed the 100-goal mark in their 10- goal Victory at the Little Lions home turf.

Cracking the 100-goal marks were Ty Salazer and Cooper Brushwood.

Brushwood had the hot hand on the night, scoring six goals en route to the Little Lions 15-5 victory over the Crusaders.

But it was the strong ball control and patience on the offense that helped lead to victory.

Against McDevitt the rotation of the ball and patience around the key was important on setting up the  offense for its 15 goals.

The defense did their part as well as they played stiff defense,  clogging the middle and protecting the goalie. Despite allowing five goals, the defense did the job as it helped spark the transition game of State College.

The Little Lions broke out the contest posting a quick 4-0 advantage.

In the scoring spurt, Salazer and Brushwood inched close to their milestone.

The Crusaders finished the scoring in the first with its first goal of the evening.

Again, State College went on another significant scoring run. This time the Little Lions scored four of five, taking an 8-2 lead.

Leading 7-2, Brushwood put his team up by six, scoring from the side of the net for his 100th goal.

When the dust settled on the first half, the Little Lions were in the drivers seat, leading 8-3.

But coming out of the intermission, State College came out more aggressively than in the first half.

That would lead to a 5-0 showing in the third, extending its lead to 13-3 going into the final 12 minutes.

With the benches emptied and new players on the field for the final period, the Little Lions held onto its dominance, winning 15-5.

For Brushwood it was a game that saw him outscore the entire Crusader team by himself.
