State College bats strong against MIfflin County

The Mifflin County Huskies softball team fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 15-5 loss to State College on Monday. The Little Lions scored on a groundout by Ella McDyre and a home run by Meredith Meengs in the first inning.

The Huskies struggled to contain the high-powered offense of State College, giving up 15 runs.

The Little Lions fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ava Babcock singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Addie Harpster was the winning pitcher for State College . The pitcher went five innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out six.

Falynn Reinard was in the pitcher’s circle for Mifflin County. The pitcher lasted one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and five runs. Arika Henry threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

State College smacked two home runs on the day. Meengs went deep in the first inning. Jess Hawbaker had a dinger in the fourth inning.

Riley Hine, Alexis O’Brien, Julianna Hartzler, Jalee Bodtorf, Reinard, and Henry each collected one hit to lead the Huskies.

State College tallied 11 hits on the day. Meengs, Hawbaker, and Sydney Wells all collected multiple hits for the Little Lions. State College  tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hawbaker led the way with two.
