Saint Joseph’s outlast Bald Eagle in OT contest

Saint Joseph’s Academy had the hot hand Wednesday night as they topped Bald Eagle Area  to advance to the championship game of the Philipsburg-Osceola Holiday Tournament.

The Wolves defeated the Eagles 59-50 in overtime.

Leading the offensive punch for St. Joes were Michael Lower with 26 while teammate Charlie Yartz finished with 21.

Offensively, Bald Eagle was led by Blaze Angellotti with 15. Teammate Cam Watkins chipped in with 12.

Tied at 50 heading into the overtime period, the Wolves sizzled scoring nine to take home the victory.

In the extra period, Saint Joseph’s got offensive contributions by Lower with five.

In the first, the Wolves outscored the Eagles 19-10.

Bald Eagle took the second half outscoring Saint Joes 14-13.

Coming out of the intermission, the Eagles soared going on a 17-6 run to go into the final stanza trailing by just three points.

The Eagles kept the points coming posting a 12-9 advantage to force an overtime period.

But the Wolves took control of the overtime and took the win.
