Regan Lowrey Drives In teammates As Juniata Lady Indians Lose To Newport

Regan Lowrey drove in four on five hits, but Juniata fell to Newport 16-10 on Monday.

Newport rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-0 in the second.

The Lady Indians were the first to get on the board in the first when Savannah Marshall hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Juniata added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Lowery singled down the left field line, and Victoria Moore doubled to center field, each scoring two runs.

The Buffaloes flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Shutt that drove in two.

Moore homered to center field, which helped Juniata tie the game at seven in the top of the fourth.

Kaylnn Brown took the loss for Juniata. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering 11 runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking one.

The Lady Indians piled up 10 hits in the game. Moore and Lowery were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in four runs for Juniata. Sophia Smith paced the Indians with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Lowrey stole three bases. Juniata ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. The Lady Indians turned one double play in the game.

Newport tallied 15 hits in the game.  The Buffaloes stole six bases in the game.

Next up for Juniata is a game against Halifax on Wednesday.
