Reed: Young Lady Huskies fall to veteran-laiden CD Lady Rams

LEWISTOWN – Thursday, Mifflin County welcomed the Central Dauphin Rams for a softball for a PIAA matchup at the new First Quality Field for the Huskies season opener First Quality Field is part of the new Stadium Project.

The Lady Rams started the game off right they would tag Mifflin County for 12 runs this would lead to an early hook from Piper Specht after throwing 28 pitches.

Isabel Rodriguez and Stella Gasper would homer off Specht in the Huskies 17-1 defeat.

Mifflin County had very few bright spots but the Huskies got hits from junior Ava Baker and senior Riley Hine. Mifflin County’s only run came from a groundout by Falynn Reinard.

MIfflin County battled despite being outscored by a veteran Rams squad.  The Purple and White would avoid being shut out and got into a groove late. Jalee Bodtorf would get on base by a throwing error. She would get two bases setting up a runner in scoring position. Baker would ground out. Gasper would send Malaina Maxwell down swinging to win by a 15-run rule.

“First off, look at the team like Central Dauphin and I mean like I said they’re going to make a run deep into the state tournament,” said Mifflin County coach Craig Weston “You tell the kids you know they work hard and  that you know that’s the caliber of team that you know youre gonna see down the road if you make it into a play off so we have to keep working.”
