PALMYRA – The 1-4 Mifflin County Huskies football team traveled to Buck Swank to take on the 1-4 Palmyra Cougars.

“The last 3 teams we played teams that were 14-1 combined so we ran through that guaulet and now we are looking to get back on track and start winning some more football games,” said Mifflin County coach Shane Breon. We have three of the last four games at home. I’m hoping the home crowd we always play hard there at home at Mitchell next week when we play Waynesboro. I’m hopeful for the second half of the season comes in its season it’s going to be some interesting football.”

Huskies quarterback Chase Hartung threw two touchdown passes connecting on passes to Cyrell Green and Landon Haigh. The touchdown from Haigh would extend Mifflin County’s lead 14-0. Haigh later scored on a botched play on special teams. Haigh pounced on it in the endzone giving the Huskies a 20-0 lead.

“I think this win tonight helps me out and the team out a lot it gets momentum going into next week,” said Landon Haigh. “I’m excited to see what we can do next week I think we can come out with the win next week and end the season 6-4 I think we can win out.”
Mifflin County played well on defense holding the Cougars off the score board. Avery Aurand and Adan Daubert made good tackles and pressured Roman Russek all night long. Palmyra had good performances from Travis McDannell and on defense. Beau Toler made times difficult for the Huskies but the purple and white overcame those times leading to a 20-0 shutout win to end their 3-game losing streak.
“It was a great confidence booster next week we will come out with the same energy defense played pretty well we have a lot of energy going into next week hopefully we can come out with a win,” said Chase Hartung.
