LEWISTOWN- The Mifflin County field hockey team welcomed in the Palmyra Cougars for a prime time matchup under the lights at Donald Chapman lll Stadium at Kish Bank Field hoping to get back into the win column.

In the end, the Cougars would be too much for the Huskies, winning 7-0.

Palmyra got on the board in the first five minutes of the game on a Jovie Weaver goal to give the Cougars an early 1-0 advantage. Weaver accounted for two of the seven points in the game.

Mifflin County had just one shot on goal in the entire game. The Lady Cougars held their own making it difficult for the Purple and White to generate much offense.

“So i think we played really hard today I do think that our effort was there. We just have some fundamental stuff that we need to work on with a team like Palmyra,” said Mifflin County head coach Brittany Wilcox. “So we are going to work on some stuff this week and hopefully be prepared for Monday.

Mifflin County showed grit on defense. Brynn Rowe played strong and so did a lot of her teammates but the team did not score points to ultimately win the game against a really good Palmyra team.

Palmyra had eight shots goal and the Cougars capitalized on seven of those. Addy Barger was srong on offense helping her own cause scoring a goal against the Huskies. Other players that also found the net were  Madelynn Witt, Allie Fink, Ella Detwiler scored the final two goals of the game to defeat the Huskies 7-0.

Mifflin County will travel to Bishop McDevitt on Monday in hopes to rebound after starting out strong but are now riding a three game losing streak.
