LEWISTOWN – Tuesday Mifflin County welcomed in the Mechanicsburg Wildcats for a Mid-Penn Conference game.
It would be a very competitive contest as Mechanicsburg took home the 65-47.
Mifflin County took the first two shots but they wouldn’t fall for the Huskies.
Mifflin County would remain hopeful. Aidan Attivo would then get one to fall as he would step back and knock down a three to give the Purple White an early advantage.
Attivo would do more of that the rest of the game he would end the night with 21 points.
“Mechanicsburg is the most athletic team in our conference easily,” said Aidan Attivo. “ Josh Smith is a division one athlete and Bardo and Yanoski. They’re extremely athletic so i would say to build from this we just need to learn how to contain the really athletic players defensively well. We’re better offensively. We will find a way to work around in a really fast uptempo pace defensively because again they’re all really really quick good athletes.”
The Wildcats were led by Princeton Comitt and Josh Smith leading the way with 25. Chance Yanoski had 20 on the night and mixed with Smith’s 25 points he had a slam dunk off a defensive steal.
The three players were in double figures on the night Liam Owens had 10 total points on the night.
Mifflin County Carson Franklin had eight points on the night he was second in scoring for the Huskies.
Mechanicsburg shot well from the foul line going 8/9 knocking down nine three’s in the game.
Mifflin County would have six three pointers in the game. Luke Bender played well on defense in a solid day’s work for him on the floor.
“Every game we play is preparation for our end goal which is to win a district championship,” said Mifflin County coach Wade Curry. You know so that’s how we look at it Each game. There are takeaways and you know we ask each player to focus on one or two things that they can improve upon. We do the same thing as a coaching staff and then bring that into practice the following day and keep working so our goal is to continue to make sure that our effort is what it needs to be when we’re competing. I’m proud of the effort tonight. We played a very tough team the combination of Josh Smith Justin Bardo and Chance Yanoski it’s a tough trio to play against and when they’re shooting a while and playing well they’re very very tough. So we played a good team tonight and you know we’ll keep working. We’re glad that competing against that level of talent it will only make us better as we prepare for districts.”
