LEWISTOWN – Battling tough Monday, the Mifflin County girls soccer team (2-4) team clashed with (1-3) West Perry at Donald Chapman Stadium Mifflin County hoping to extend their winning streak to two games.

It was a battle between the defenses early but the game would turn into the Mustangs favor as we would get our first score of the game Alyssa Morett would find the back of the net to give West Perry an early 1-0 advantage.

In the end, the Mustangs took home the 2-0 victory.

Mifflin County had good passing from Madison Peachy but the Huskies were unable to turn that production into points. Liberty Cook also limited possible damage on a nice defensive effort earning quality saves despite the team’s loss.

“We just have to keep working on our offense. We’ve been struggling to find goals most of the season so far and that’s tough way to play,” said Mifflin County coach Barrett Knepp. “You have to play really stout defensively and hope for a goal or two. We need to find ways to be more consistent putting balls in the back of the net.”

Mifflin County was held in check. The Huskies were only able to get six shots on goal as they were held to just three in the first half.

West Perry would speed things up. It would be all Mustangs in the second half as they kept the ball on Mifflin County’s side majority of the second half. Kendyl Chubb  would have the team’s second goal. It would be assisted by Maggie Morrison. West Perry had good shots on goal all night which kept MIfflin County mostly on the defensive end of things. The Mustangs also got production from DeeAnna Chubb as well as both sisters played a good game for West Perry. The Mustangs would be get past the Huskies in a shutout defeat for the home team.

Mifflin County will travel to Waynesboro on Wednesday as they hope to get back into the win column.
