LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County boys basketball team welcomed in the Selinsgrove Seals inside the Mifflin County High School Gym in front of the home supporters of Mifflin County in hopes to rebound from last night’s loss at Palmyra.
The Huskies were believers of rebounding from the close loss.
MC wasted little time as the “purple and white” would go on a 10-0 run.
Leading the game was Mifflin County’s star studded sharp shooter Aidan Attivo. Attivo would have 8 points in the first quarter. The Huskies would lead 18-5 after one quarter of play.
Mifflin County’s sophomore Jack Curry would get out to a fast start. Curry knocked down two three-pointers in the first quarter as he had six of the teams’ 18 points.
Attivo also had two three’s in the first quarter as Mifflin County continued their offense explosion.
Selinsgrove only totaled 17 points in the first half. Seals guard Gavin Bastian was aggressive early as he would be held to six points at halftime.
“Jack’s performance tonight is a testament to perseverance. He’s been in a tough position all year being face guarded throughout our league,” said Mifflin County Coach Wade Curry. He came out of the game at Palmyra after not scoring a point and refocused tonight as he came back to his discipline work ethic and had a performance of a lifetime. Right there beside him was Aidan Attivo who hit a number of huge shots for us tonight. That really helped to extend our lead at the right time.”
Mifflin County had three players in double figures tonight Josh Hartzler was a threat on the floor tonight playing well on offense and defense Hartzler had ten points on the night.Mifflin County would end the night with Curry putting up 32 points Attivo totaling 24 points Curry broke the three point record tonight as well as the single game scoring record in tonight’s victory over the seals.Curry had eight total three’s in Mifflin County’s winning effort.
“I mean we really had our ups and downs and I was out five games with a ankle injury. I came back and had to find my legs and had good game against Milton Hershey,” said Jack Curry. “But then I had to find my legs again. I am really happy that finally our team started to really get together and make a run here on the way to districts.”
Attivio had had another great night for the Huskies putting up 24. Aidan Attivo had to something to say after the game.
“I think tonight was a really good night where we brought in all of our key players together and we finally played like a full game using everybody,” said Aidan Attvio. “It was just phenomenal.The atmosphere was a bunch of energy. Jack breaking two records tonight it was awesome. I am really happy for him. It was just a great game. Everything pieced together perfectly and we need to bring that into our next conference game and going forward.”
Mifflin County will face Lower Dauphin on January 31st on Friday night. Mifflin County will look to make it two straight Tipoff slated for 7:00pm.
