Powerful Pitching Performance From Taylor Bumgardner Carries Penns Valley Lady Rams Past Somerset

Taylor Bumgardner was dominant in the circle, as the right-handed pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Penns Valley Area’s  7-0 victory over Somerset on Wednesday. Bumgardner gave up six hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking two.

The Lady Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sydnie Dalton singled to left field, Somerset committed an error, and Caroline Wert was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Two more Penns Valley runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 5-0. Bumgardner hit a solo home run to center field, and Callie Riddle singled, scoring one run.

Addy Berkey started the game for Somerset. The pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking none.

Dalton drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Lady Rams with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Bumgardner, Dalton, and Riddle each collected two hits for Penns Valley.

Belle Martin and Elly Fletcher each collected two hits for Somerset.

Penns Valley welcomes Bald Eagle Area on Monday for their next game.
