BELLEFONTE – Getting right to buisness!

Bellefonte and Philipsburg-Psceola’s volleyball teams met up Tuesday in a tough Mountain League contest.

Though the Lady Mounties took home the 3-0 victory, Bellefonte proved to be very stubborn at times during the contest, taking all the spikes and blasts they could and sending it right back at the returning Mountain League champs.

In the end, led by volleyball phenom Reese Hazelton, Philipsburg took home wins of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-9.

Hazelton was deadly from the front row with her potent blasts, soft taps and her serving.

In the first set, the Mounties exploded onto the scene as they went on an early 12-2 advantage.

Picking up eight service points from Natalie Betz and two from teammate Annie Johnson.

Philipsburg-Osceola was able to keep a 10-point lead throughout the contest, despite the Red Raiders battling on the front lines.

Hazelton added two service points in the opening contest as well as posting numerous kills.

PO’s Lauren Dugan finished off the game, posting two consecutive service points.

Bellefonte made their presence known in the second game, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage. Posting a service point for the Lady Raiders was Carlee Pepperman. Pepperman posted a service point in the first game as well.

Bellefonte continued to control the lead, at 7-4.

But like returning champs do, the Mounties battled back to take control of the contest going on a 9-1 run, to take the lead at 13-8.

Maddy Lumadue got the run warmed up, posting two crucial service points.

After a side out point by Bellefonte, the Mounties put the ball in the hands of Sophie Granville and she did not disappoint, posting five service points.

The Mounties would get service points from Natalie Betz and Johnson to help close it out.

In the third and final game, the Mounties went wire-to-wire with the lead and stayed focused throughout, ending things at 25-9.

In the JV action, Bellefonte and PO played in an epic match that saw the Lady Raiders battle back in the third set from eight down to taking the lead at 9-8.

However, the Mounties were able to recover to win the game in three sets.

Bellefonte took the opening game 25-13.
