Philipsburg-Osceola bats sizzle, tops Penns Valley

The Penns Valley Rams watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-7 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola on Tuesday.  The Mounties scored on a walk by Ben Gustkey, a walk by Jake DeSimone, a walk by TJ Wildman, and a walk by Denny Prestash in the second inning.

Penns Valley collected six hits and the Mounties had seven in the high-scoring affair.

Philipsburg-Osceola got things started in the second inning.  Gustkey drew a walk, scoring one run.

Zach Yoder earned the victory on the hill for the Mounties. Yoder allowed three hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five.  Brandon Hahn threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jarrett Stover toed the rubber for the Rams. Stover surrendered five runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three.  Jon Meyer threw five and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Meyer led Penns Valley with two hits in four at bats.

The Mounties racked up seven hits.  Gustkey and Sam McDonald each collected multiple hits for P-O.  Gustkey led the Mounties with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
