Peyton Vancas’s Clutch Hitting Propels Bellefonte To Victory Over Bishop Guilfoyle

Peyton Vancas drove in four runs on two hits to lead Bellefonte past Bishop Guilfoyle Varsity Mauraders 20-10 on Tuesday at Governor’s Park. Vancas singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two.

The Red Raiders collected 11 hits and the Mauraders had 10 in the high-scoring affair.

Bishop Guilfoyle got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hamilton Gates homered to left field, and Rocco Cacciotti singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Bellefonte flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring eight runs on three hits to take the lead, 8-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Parker VonGunden on a full count that drove in two.

The Red Raiders added one run in the second after .

Bellefonte added one run in the third. Bishop Guilfoyle committed an error, making the score 10-6.

The Red Raiders scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Braeden Fortney singled, scoring one run, Vancas doubled, scoring two runs, and Zach Lehman singled, scoring two runs.

Bellefonte scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Oliver Thornburg singled, scoring two runs, and Parker Capparelle singled, scoring two runs.

Capparelle started the game for Bellefonte. The starter surrendered eight hits and eight runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Jake Marasco led things off on the hill for Bishop Guilfoyle. The pitcher gave up two hits and six runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking four. Cole Houser appeared in relief for Bellefonte.

The Red Raiders tallied 11 hits in the game. Capparelle, Vancas, and Lehman each collected two hits for Bellefonte. The Red Raiders had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 13 walks for the game. Evan Mattern, Thornburg, Isaac Gall, and VonGunden led the team with two walks each. Bellefonte turned one double play in the game.

Bishop Guilfoyle accumulated 10 hits in the game. Brody Gartman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Bishop Guilfoyle with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Lex Dixon, Gartman, Nick Foor, Cacciotti, and Gates each collected two hits for the  Mauraders.

Next up for Bellefonte is a game against Hollidaysburg on Wednesday.
