Penns Valley softball tops Mounties in Saturday action

It was a Saturday to remember for the Penns Valley softball team as the secured a second place seed in the District 6 post season.

The Lady Rams improved with a victory over Philipsburg-Osceola 9-2.

“The ladies were ready to play from the first pitch today. We had great energy and effort,” said Penns Valley coach Terry Bumgardner. “A great team win. So proud of the ladies and how they got through a long week.”

Leading the offensive punch was Taylor Bumgardner.

Bumgardner started the night in the circle for Penns Valley. She gave up two runs going the distance as she struck out 10.

The Lady Rams opened the game, plating four in the first inning.  Avery Dinges drove in two on a double.

Alivia Bizzarri was the starting hurler for Philipsburg-Osceola. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out three.  Abby Vaux threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Bumgardner led Lady Rams with two hits in four at bats.
