The Penns Valley girls softball team topped Claysburg-Kimmel in a 5-4 Friday nail biter.

Claysburg opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning.

In the bottom of the inning, Penns Valley cut the lead in half, 2-1.

Scotty Dinges leads off the bottom of the inning posting a double.

With one out, Taylor Bumgardner hit a fielders choice bringing Dinges home to score.

Claysburg added to its lead posting a two runs in the fourth.

“Our ladies once again battled and refused to lose. We beat a really, really good team in Claysburg-Kimmel which was ranked #2 in the state single A and #1 in District 6,”said Terry Bumgardner.

“Ellie Coursen came up with a clutch hit down third base line and Taylor Bumgardner gave us 3+ innings in relief to shut the door. So proud of this group. Another TEAM win for our ladies.”

From there the Lady Rams battled back to explode for the next four run en route to the cone from behind victory.”
