SPRING MILLS — Mount Union struggled to contain the Penns Valley offense as the Trojans were defeated 55-7 in the quarter-finals of the District 6 Class 2A football game Friday night.

It didn’t take long for the Rams to get going offensively as on their first drive of the game, the third play to be exact, quarterback Jackson Romig launched a deep ball to Miles Brooks who went 41 yards for the score.

But it also did not take long for the Trojans to respond as on their third play of the opening drive, quarterback Bryce Danish managed to break loose and power his way to the endzone on a quarterback keeper for 66 yards. Danish also got the extra point to even the game at seven.

That was as close as Mount Union got as Penns Valley turned on the jets offensively as running back Ty Watson capped off an eight play drive with a six yard run for the score.

The Rams were not done yet, as in the second quarter, Romig launched another bullseye. This time it was to Watson who then rocketed his way into the endzone for 85 yards. Romig kept the ball flying all over the place and again fired off another deep ball this time finding Danin Kerstetter for 60 yards.

Then late in the period, Watson bursted out a big 19 yard run for another Penns Valley touchdown. The Rams added on a touchdown during the third quarter as Romig made a short pass to Hunter Lyons for the touchdown.

Two more scores came in the final quarter starting with a big 20 yard run from Kollin Brungart and another big run coming from Zach Rummel who went 28 yards for the touchdown.

Overall, the Penns Valley offense compiled a total of 483 yards of total offense. 323 of those yards came in the first half. Watson ran for 162 yards with a rushing as well as receiving touchdowns for the night. Quarterback Romig had 253 yards in the air to go along with four touchdown passes in the game.

For Mount Union, Danish led the charge running for 78 yards on the ground including the touchdown run.

Penns Valley move up to (9-2) and will meet Bald Eagle Area in the Semis while Mount Union finishes (6-5).
