WINGATE – There are no easy games in the Mountain League.

If you ask most coaches who participate in Mountain League girls soccer, that is what mostly all would say.

Point and case Tuesday when the Bald Eagle Area girls hosted Penns Valley in a prime time battle.

The game would go 100 minutes before the game would end, just like it started as a tie.

Both teams posted goals on the first and second halves and battled through two overtime periods before ending at 2-2.

On both sides of the ball, both teams did not looked the worse for wear as they most likely could have gone another period or two.

Penns Valley, who currently is in fourth place in the Mountain League battled the third place team in Bald Eagle Area.

“They (Bald Eagle) got a lot of heart. A lot of heart this team. I have not coached a team that has this much fire in them,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “They really stepped up to the plate tonight.”

The Lady Rams opened the game going directly into the Eagles end looking for an early goal.

They would get just that as Ellie Romig would take a quick strike from Scotty Dinges and put it into the back of the net at 37:35.

“Going into the game at this point we’re getting close to post season so  we’re looking ahead a little bit and I told them to fight. They did. They fought hard,” said Penns Valley coach Sean Herrman. “They didn’t give up. They could have got exhausted and just say ‘I’m done. So I’m very proud of them that they just kept fighting. They kept pushing to try to get another goal.”

The game evened out and both teams had their moments where they would send the other back up the field empty handed. That would be the case for 16-minutes after the Rams goal.

But the Lady Eagles refused to trail long.

Pushing the ball up the field, the Eagles, Abby Hoover hit teammate Sybil Thompson in stride. Thompson was automatic, placing the ball to the back of the net, tying it at 21:52.

Both teams went into the intermission posting a goal each in a contest where the two posted a goal each.

The battle continued they both came out and renewed the first half intensity.

It was a back and forth battle throughout as the two locked up at a stalemate for over the first 16 minutes.

But as the game wound under the 23-minute mark, the Rams would strike again.

Standing in the right hand corner of the Bald Eagle end, Scotty Dinges hit a curving shot that hit the top corner of the Eagles goal on an unassisted shot at 22:26.

Despite falling behind once again, the Wagles would regroup and become laser focused on tying the game.

And at 13:14 left Heather Leskovansky in the middle of the Rams goal. She would score on a corner kick at 13:14.

The two would battle through regulation and through the two overtimes but neither team were able to break another goal onto the scoreboard.
