UNIVERSITY PARK- Saying goodbye is not easy but change is the only constant in life.

I had the privilege of sharing special moments in the tight but friendly quarters that was the Penn State Press Box.

It was an end to an era Saturday at Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium as the legendary Press Box was imploded as a part of the stadium’s new renovations that will be taking place in the off season.

Through the year’s the Press Box was home to numerous broadcasting icons, reporters and dignitaries from the National Football League as well as opposing team’s  Athletic information media workers.

For year’s PSU’s local broadcasting legends like Fran Fisher, George Paterno, Jack Ham, Steve Jones as well as Stan Severin.

The press box had its own little persona as it was there through the glory years of Joe Paterno, the rebuilding of the program by Coach Bill O’Brien as well as the current run by James Franklin.

Its final big event before its implosion was the first play off game in the new NCAA National Championship bracket.

The space was a very tightly congested area where numerous friendships were made and relationships that would last a lifetime.

I will miss the electric atmosphere of the old fashioned set up, the way the booth would shake up and down when the fans would celebrate a score or turnover. The room would actually shake in sync with the fans cheers!

Though the actual box has been taken down my memories will keep it alive and I’ll cherish them deeply.

They say every good thing must come to an end and today we say good by the old and bring in the new!

I’m anxious to see the new memories and moments the next designed press box will bring.

But today we say good bye to an old friend. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
