Penn State dominates Kent State in home contest

UNIVERSITY PARK – The 3-0 Penn State Nittany Lions welcomed in the MAC Conference Kent State Golden Flash at Beaver Stadium on Military Appreciation Day.

The Nittany Lions would elect to defer to the second half Kent State would receive the opening kickoff. Nittany LIons kicker Gabriel Nwosu would kick the ball out of balance the Golden Flash would start at their own 35.

Kent State starting quarterback Devin Kargman would exit the game with a knee injury just two plays into the game with a knee injury. Kargman would have to be stretchered off the field. The Nittany Lions would be credited with the fumble. Dani Dennis Sutton applied the pressure. Kent State would recover their own fumble retaining possession.Kent State came up empty on the possession.

Penn State started their first drive of the game with a Kaytron Allen 7-yard run. Penn State quarterback connected on passes to Harrison Wallace and Omari Evans.

The Nittany Lions would be turned away following the interception thrown by Beau Pribulia on a pass intended for Tyler Warren Kameran Olds would be the lucky man with the pick.

Kent State came up empty again. JD Sherrod would find Dashawn Martin for a pass. Nittany Lions AJ Harris would break the pass up leading to a fourth down.Penn State would take advantage of the missed opportunity Drew Allar would find Warren for a 16-yard touchdown reception with 2:38 to go in the first quarter.  The  Nittany Lions led Kent State 7-0 on a scoring drive that nine plays for 89 yards in 4:41 to end the quarter of play.


The Nittany Lions would not be done yet Allar would find Nicholas Singleton for a 17-yard touchdown reception.

Allar would also use his legs to find the end zone with 0:15 seconds to go in the first half after the Golden Flash would come up empty on their possession.

Penn State managed the clock and use their timeouts before Allar would use his legs to find the endzone on a 5-yard touchdown quarterback keeper to extend the lead 28-0.

Kent State would not try to run another play the Golden Flash would take a knee to head to the locker room down 28-0.

Penn State and Kent State would resume play after halftime. The Nittany Lions would only need four plays to go 75 yards in 1:47. The big play would be Allar connecting on a deep pass to Evans for a 59-yard receiving touchdown.

The Nittany Lions came up with a big stop, third string quarterback Tommy Ulatowski would pass the ball to Chrishon McCRay, Nittany Lions linebacker Tyler Edson would break it up.  Kent State came up empty in five plays 21 yards in just 3:28. The Nittany LIons answered right back Pribula would find Klahil Dinkins in the back of the endzone for another Nittany Lions score to make it 42-0 with 4:55 remaining in the third quarter. Singleton ended the night with 81 yards teammate Allen would total 66 yards.

Penn State was able to go deep into their roster against the Golden Flash leading by a large margin. Cam Wallace rushed for 39 yards. Wallace scored a touchdown with 9:21 to go in the game on a 1-yard score. Pribula capped off that finding his way into the endzone making the score 56-0 with 1:25 remaing in regulation. Penn State set a new record totaling 717 total yards of offense in their 56-0 win over Kent State.

The Nittany Lions will be back home on September 28 on Homecoming night to take on the ranked Illinois team. The Nittany Lions will avoid  repeating history of 2021 when the Fighting Illini came into Beaver Stadium stunning the Nittany LIons 20-18 in a game that reached a historic nine overtimes marking the first NCAA to go into nine overtimes.

Kent State will travel back home to host Eastern Michigan at 3:30 next Saturday the Golden Flash will look to earn their first win of the season.
