LEWISTOWN – Hello again wrestling fans! Hometown Sports is back with a brand new one on one interview with local athletes. This time I got to sit down with a man who works behind the camera for the people of HWF and his name is TV’s Mike Edwards.
JY: Who inspired you to get into pro wrestling and why?
ME: D-Generation X, Hulk Hogan, Bobby Heenan, Jim Ross, etc. I knew I wanted to be involved but didn’t know how or what I’d do. I was asked to do commentary and host a TV show for All of Nothing Wrestling. I knew that was where I fit in. I listened to JR learning to be a better play by play commentator.
JY: What was your first match like?
ME: My first experience was unique in that I hosted the AON Rundown before I met the wrestlers. My first live event for AON was in my hometown. I got a huge cheer and the ring announcer whispers “I forgot the run sheets.” I went back to retrieve them for him.
JY: What has been your moment in your career so far?
ME: My favorite moment was one of my first big moments. Me and the X-man got to interview Nikolai Volkoff for our TV show, the AON Rundown (Now on Youtube).
JY: What do you like most about pro wrestling?
ME: The storytelling, the athleticism in the ring, the characters. My favorite part is calling the action while telling their story.
JY: Any advice for someone looking to get into the wrestling business?
ME: Develop a thick skin, you will receive a lot of criticism. Don’t give up. Learn, accept criticism from people trying to help you. There are a lot of ways to be involved. If you don’t make it as a wrestler, try refereeing or manager. The most important thing is to be teachable.
And there you have it wrestling fans. That was my interview with TV’s Mike Edwards. I personally would like to thank Mr. Edwards for taking the time to answer my questions and you guys will see him and the rest of the HWF crew in the near future.
Until Next Time!
