Mount Union outlasts MIfflin County in Friday action

LEWISTOWN – Mount Union baseball traveled to Mifflin County to take on the Huskies Friday.

The Trojans came into this game unbeaten. Mount Union was 10-0 in conference play this season.

Mount Union won 6-2.

Mount Union Cracked the scoreboard first on a fielder’s choice. Ryan Scott grounded out but Blaine Hunsinger would score on the play. The Trojans would take a 1-0 lead. For The Trojans, Scott had a good outing on the mound by giving his team 5 1/3 innings while throwing 71 total pitches.

Bryce Danish would replace Scott with one out in the fifth Inning.

Scott Had a big night at the plate as well, driving in three of the team’s six runs on the night. Bryson Bubb took the mound for Mifflin County giving his team four innings.

Bubb gave his best effort out on the mound.

Junior Doug Weaver Jr came in relief to pitch for the remainder of the game.

Ryan Hine had a great showing at the plate belting a homerun off of Scott in the home half of the 4th inning.

Tye Plank had a good night at the plate recording two singles Plank also had a hot glove robbing Cameron Donaldson off a hit with a nice diving catch to end the inning. Overall tonight, the Mifflin County defense was pretty good.

The Huskies were able to force Cainen Atherton to ground into a double play in the top of the third inning. When it came to pitching, both hurlers for both teams throughout the game issued their fair share of walks in tonight’s game.

Both teams were turned away from runs, leaving men on base.

That’s when the defenses showed up in the game.

Late in the contest, Plank singled to right field.

Danish would get himself in a jam with bases loaded.

The Trojans’ pitcher walked Hine. Plank would go on to score.

But unfortunately, JP Pannizzo would strike out.

Following the strike out, Calin Mcknight grounded out to third base and that would end the game.

The Trojans of Mount Union would improve to 16-0 on the season Mifflin county would drop to 5-10 on the season.
