STATE COLLEGE – Play ball! The 2025 baseball season officially opened Sunday at the State College Little League complex.
Teams from coach pitch to Major League were on hand to be recognized before the games begin for the spring season.
Despite being delayed a week, Mother Nature was kind on this day as numerous future sluggers and players finally took to the field t for the yearly event.
The ceremony was an abbreviated one to get prepared for the numerous 2pm games that were being held after the event.
The event started with the T-Ball division. Pee Wee and softball teams followed the T-Ball onto the field.
Minor followed with Major league highlighting the entrance of the groups.
The outfield was filled with the future of the State College baseball and softball teams. As the teams entered the field the sun came out and there was a smell of burgers and hot dogs coming from the concession stands officially marking the beginning of another historical season from the League.
Officially kicking off the ceremony was Travis Snyder, president of the league giving the young players so words of wisdom.
“Players, the most important thing we want you to do out here is have fun. Baseball is secondary, have fun with your friends,” said Snyder. “This game is a game of failures. You will get out more times than you will get on base. You will make errors and you will make outs. Celebrate the successes. Dont dwell on the failures. Keep playing and practicing your skills. With hard work and practice those things will develop. There is one thing each kid out here is capable of doing right now. That is be a good teammate, have a positive attitude and give maximum effort when you are here at the ball park.”
State College softball play Aubrey Mark threw the first ceremonial opening pitch for the girls major division while the boys were represented by Colin Rabideau.
When the last ceremonial pitch hit the catchers gloves the last thing left is to officially let the games begin.
Good luck players and coaches on a great season.
