Mcveytown defeated Milroy Babe Ruth 13-0 on Tuesday thanks in part to seven runs in the fifth inning.
Mcveytown opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two errors. Mcveytown first got on the board when an error scored one run.
Mcveytown added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when B Benny singled, scoring two runs, J Knable doubled, scoring one run, and T Shaeffer grounded out, scoring one run.
Mcveytown scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. J Powell doubled, scoring one run, Knable singled, scoring one run, E Stonerook singled, scoring one run, Justice Ritchey induced L Pecht to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, C Bush drew a walk, scoring one run, and C Cherry singled, scoring two runs.
Benny earned the win for Mcveytown. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking four. Thad Gerwick took the loss for Milroy Babe Ruth. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up 10 runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking four.
Chase Krepps and Cohen Ritchey each collected one hit for Milroy Babe Ruth.
Cherry, Knable, and Benny each drove in two runs for Mcveytown. Bush paced Mcveytown with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Cherry stole three bases. Mcveytown didn’t commit a single error in the field. Powell had the most chances in the field with 10.
