The Mifflin County Lady Huskies ran incredibly well at Saturday’s cross country race in Jackson, New Jersey. The team left town on Friday to compete in the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational. The weather was cloudy with blasts of wind and rain, but the combination of that and a fast course set the team up for success.
More than half the team walked away with PRs: Ava Kratzer, Ava Wagner, Alexis Anderson, Madison Baumgardner, and Maya Morgan. Several others had season bests. The Varsity squad placed 13th out of 28 Teams. Teams competed from multiple states and our team ran in the fastest race. Races were assigned based on the size of school.
I was really pleased with how well everyone ran today. It’s not easy transitioning from traveling, spending a night away from home, and being ready to race the next morning. They took it in stride, kept a positive attitude, and went for it! It is great to see this kind of success in the middle of the season.
The team is now enjoying a well deserved day in the amusement park before we head back to Mifflin County on Sunday. Next week they will be racing in a dual meet on Wednesday in Altoona followed by another big race on Friday at the Paul Short Invitational.
Scoring for the Lady Huskies was:
(38) Amila Coffey (21:32)
(49) Ava Kratzer (22:01)
(69) Ava Wagner (22:40)
(95) Alexis Anderson (23:15)
(115) Madison Baumgardner (24:10)
