Mifflin County volleyball falls in an opening night thriller to Hershey

Mifflin County Girls Volleyball were on the road last evening for the season opener against the Trojan’s at Hershey High School.

The JV dropped the first set 14-25 and then battled back to win the second set 25-18. They dropped a tightly contested third set 14-16. Ayden Long and Briah Moore led the Huskies’ strong defensive effort in the match tallying nine and five digs respectively. Jovi Bush had 5 kills while Lily Curry handed out four assists.

The Varsity game was a thrilling, back and forth, five-set matchup. The Huskies won the first and third sets , but the Trojans ultimately would end up winning the fifth set (Set scores: 26-24, 12-25, 25-23, 21-25, 11-15). The Huskies defense was led by Emily Porch and Amelia Green. Emmaleigh Harmon and Jamilee Gilbert each tallied four aces in the effort. Leah Hartzler led with three blocks and three kills.

The team is back in action this Wednesday at Mifflin County High School for their home opener against Carlisle. The JV match is set to start at 5pm followed by Varsity at 6:15pm.
