STRABANE – The second day of the Western Class AAA saw three MIfflin County wrestlers shine and finish as Regional runner ups.
Advancing to the PIAA Championships this Thursday were Andrew Alexander (107), Avery Aurand (189) and Peyton Kearns (285).
Alexander was just two points from being crowned West Regional champ falling 9-8 to Nicholas Garrity of Peters in the championship.
Alexander earned his way into the finals with a 12-5 decision over Michael Johnson of West Allegheny.
At 139, Kamden Everly finished in sixth place as he fell to TJ Allison of Trinity 4-1.
Battling for the top spot, Aurand went head-to-head with Kendahl Hoare of DuBois in a thriller that would go to a Sudden Victory period.
But it would be a Hoare takedown that would give the Husky matman the runner up spot, falling 5-2.
Kearns also battled his way into the regional final at 285 where he went up against a tough battle against Shepherd Turk of Thomas Jefferson.
Shepherd would get the victory pinning Kearns at the 2:45 mark.
But all three wrestlers will be back and ready to hit 322 down to Hershey looking to make their dreams come true.
Teammate Jake Knable fell into the consolation round.
His first bout in the conseys came against Caleb Anderson of Meadville. Knable dominated the contest, winning 10-1 advancing him on to the next round.
Next up he went up against a familiar foe in Nic Berrena of State College.
