A walk-off left the Mifflin County Huskies on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Greater Latrobe on Thursday. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the eighth when Hantz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Mifflin County lost despite out-hitting Greater Latrobe five to four. Jayden Smith led the Huskies with two hits.
The Huskies opened the scoring in the first after Stynchula induced Reese Christine to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Mifflin County added one run in the third after Smith singled down the left field line.
Porterfield doubled down the left field line on a full count, which helped Greater Latrobe tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth.
Stynchula earned the win for Greater Latrobe. The hurler surrendered four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out one and walking two. Parker Crownover took the loss for the Huskies. The righty went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Porterfield earned the save.
Christine provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Huskies with two runs batted in. Evan Strohecker led Mifflin County with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Strohecker stole two bases. The Huskies stole four bases in the game.
Porterfield led Greater Latrobe with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-1 on the day. Leonard led Greater Latrobe with two hits in four at bats. Bulebosh led Greater Latrobe with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Greater Latrobe turned one double play in the game.
Mifflin County will travel to Chambersburg for their next game on Tuesday.
