Bo Benny struck out 12 batters as the pitcher led Mifflin County Junior Varsity past Selinsgrove 7-0 on Thursday. Benny allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings while walking five.
Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies won thanks in part to five runs in the fourth inning. Jude Zook doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Camden Kauffman singled, scoring two runs, and Liam Shaffer singled, scoring one run.
A single by Shaffer put Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies on the board in the bottom of the first.
A tag up by Wyatt Parkes extended the Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Tanner Teats led things off on the mound for Selinsgrove. The pitcher allowed five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Parkes threw one inning of no-run ball for Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies accumulated nine hits in the game. Kauffman led Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Shaffer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies in hits. Karl Shirey paced Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Lucas Shawver had the most chances in the field with 13.
Jake Noecker and Reid Kerstetter were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Selinsgrove while hitting back-to-back. Matthew McGovern stole two bases. Selinsgrove ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game. Selinsgrove turned three double plays in the game.
Mifflin County Junior Varsity Huskies will travel to State College for their next game on Friday.
