Mifflin County Indoor track completes season at State College Invitational #3

STATE COLLEGE – It was another solid performance for the MIfflin County indoor track and field team as they get ready to take their talents outdoors, finishing the regular indoor season at the third State College Invitational held at Penn State University’s Horace Ashenfelter lll Indoor Track.

“The kids give their all every time we put them on the track. You can’t ask for more than that,” said MIfflin County coach Scott Gantz. “It’s been a long year. We started in mid-November and here we are mid-February. So I think it’s time they get a break and for those who are coming out for spring track to get ready. We tear into that March 6th.”

Things went well for the squad from Juniata as well. Wyatt Stroup finished his day with a second place finish in the 3000-meter run. His time was 9:32.00.

Mifflin County was well represented as well. Caden Bell finished sixth and Conrad Coffey finished ninth with times of 9:51.50 and 10:11.00, respectively.

Stroup also ran in the 800-meter run where he finished 14th with a time of 2:08.58.

Mifflin County got a 28th finish from Cody Fultz who picked up a finishing time of 2.16.82 while teammate Maxwell Laudermilch finished with a time of 2:18.99 good enough for 33rd.

At press time, Jayden King earned a fourth place finish and positioned to qualify for the State Championships with a triple jump finish of 41’ 4”.

Mifflin County also got a 15th place finish from Hunter Bailey as his top jump was 33’ 8 3/4”.

King also placed second in the high jump. He finished with a jump of 6’0”.

Rounding out his day was a ninth place nod in the long jump. King posted a leap of 18’ 4 1/2”.

Teammate Josiah Sechler finished 14th with a mark of 15’ 8”.

In the pole vault, MIfflin County’s Ty Small placed 8th with a best of 10’ 1”.

In the boys 200-meter dash, the Huskies got a 13th place finish by Josh Cruz who finished with a time of 24.43.

Carter Smith posted a top 10 finish, placing seventh in the 400-meter run of 53.76. Cruz finished 18th with a mark of 56.47.

In the mile run, the Huskies got a 17th finish from Reese Cubbison who posted a time of 5:02.81. Rounding out the mile run finishers for MIfflin County was Hart Oden with a 5:28.71.

In boys’ relay action, the Huskies 4×800 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 8:41.12.

On the girls side, Bailey McNitt finished ninth in the triple jump posting a jump of 29’ 10 3/4”. Teammate Tai Ematat finished 13th with a leap of 27’ 5”.

Ematat also placed 12th in the high jump with a mark of 4’ 2”.

The MIfflin County girls 4×200-meter relay team finished seventh with a time of 2:05.01.

In the girls 3000-meter, MIfflin County was led by Amelia Coffey as she finished in 8th place with a time of 12:30.89.

Teammate Justice Sheaffer finished 11th with a mark of 13:19.28.

Falynn Reinard finished 16th in the 200-meter run posting a 29.44 Reinard also finished 15th in the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 8.79.

Teammate Olivia Fannell followed up with a mark of 9.14.

Audrey Adams represented MIfflin County posting a 3:26.93 in the 800.

Finishing in the 15th place in the long jump was Sophia Plank who posted a leap of 13’ 4 3/4” while teammate Macaela Christie topped out at 12’ 10 3/4” good enough for a 20th place finish.

A pair of Huskies finished with solid efforts in the 60-meter hurdles. Teammates Pia Patel and Mina Philips finished with times of 12.88 and 13.97 for a 14th and 15th place finish, respectively.
